Head of Agribusiness and Trade Component (m/f/d)
We are an independent, agriculture-focused consulting company. Since 1981, we have been working for public and private clients in Germany and abroad. In the field of international development cooperation, we specialize in promoting sustainable agriculture and food security. On behalf of public and private institutions, we plan, implement, and evaluate projects across Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
We are looking for a key specialist for an international project in China starting in early April 2026. The technical focus is on establishing business relationships between Chinese and German agribusinesses, strengthening trade between the two countries, and promoting the export of German agricultural products and foods to China.
Your profile:
Minimum requirements:
- University degree (Master's or equivalent) in agricultural economics, agricultural sciences, business administration, trade, development economics or a related field
- At least 10 years of professional experience
- Experience in project management, managing complex processes, and intercultural cooperation
- Close proximity to the German and Chinese agricultural sectors
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
Other (beneficial) qualifications/experience that are positively evaluated as part of the assessment:
- In-depth knowledge of agribusiness, agricultural value chains, and market analysis
- Several years of relevant professional experience (at least 5 years) in the agribusiness sector, ideally in international or development policy cooperation projects
- Experience in working with public and private actors
- Knowledge of the Chinese agricultural and food sector or experience in China or East Asia is a great advantage
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Confident negotiating skills and a confident manner when dealing with high-ranking partners
- Excellent communication and moderation skills
- Knowledge of German is desirable
- Knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) is an asset
