Project lead for agricultural project in India (m/f/d)

We are an independent, agriculture-focused consulting company. Since 1981, we have been working for public and private clients in Germany and abroad. In the field of international development cooperation, we specialize in promoting sustainable agriculture and food security. On behalf of public and private institutions, we plan, implement, and evaluate projects across Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.

We are looking for a project lead in India (m/f/d) for an agricultural project starting in early 2026. The technical focus is on food security, strengthening trade/export promotion, integrating economic partners, and digitalization for climate-resilient agriculture.

Your profile:

Minimum requirements:

• Completed university degree
• At least 10 years of professional experience
• Proven leadership experience in international projects
• Excellent written and spoken English skills

Other (beneficial) qualifications/experience that are positively evaluated as part of the assessment:

• Professional background in (agricultural) economics, policy advice or related topics
• Experience in food safety and standards, marketing of agricultural products, and export promotion/international agricultural trade
• Good knowledge of and contacts in the German agricultural sector
• Relevant knowledge in the field of data-driven agriculture, artificial intelligence and climate change resilience
• Experience in international cooperation, preferably with government institutions and private sector actors
• Several years of management experience in complex projects with personnel responsibility
• Proven team management and leadership skills
• Familiarity with accounting procedures, administrative processes and regulations related to publicly funded projects or willingness to learn
• Regional experience in India (at least 2 years)
• Knowledge of German; Hindi language skills are an asset
