Launch of the Mission Soil Platform: IAK involved in implementing the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe"

With the official kick-off on Feb 20, 2026, the new phase of the Mission Soil Platform has begun. The platform is a central instrument of the European Union (EU)-funded Mission A Soil Deal for Europe, implemented under the Horizon Europe programme.

With NTU International as consortium lead, IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH supports the implementation of the Mission. Activities are carried out in close coordination with the European Research Executive Agency (REA) and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).

The Mission aims to advance concrete solutions for healthy soils across Europe by 2030, thereby making a decisive contribution to the implementation of the EU Soil Strategy for 2030. It brings together research, practice, policy, and society in an integrated approach. A total of 100 so-called Living Labs and Lighthouses are to be established.

As a coordination and knowledge hub, the Mission Soil Platform performs the following key functions:

  • Consolidating and structuring data and knowledge generated across projects
  • Supporting knowledge transfer to land users, policymakers, advisory services, and civil society
  • Strengthening coherence within the project portfolio
  • Promoting impact, monitoring, and strategic development

IAK contributes its long-standing expertise in agricultural policy, sustainable land use, monitoring systems, and strategic advisory services.

The objective is to further develop the Mission Soil Platform in a scientifically sound, efficient, and impact-oriented manner, and to support the transition from project results to measurable impact. With the launch of the new phase, the platform will be further strengthened, including an increased focus on knowledge management, strategic coordination, and impact monitoring.
