The project aims to develop an open, interoperable digital platform for optimizing material cycles in the agricultural and food industry.

The core of the project is the mapping of real material flows as digital twins, supplemented by AI-supported analyses for the evaluation and optimization of waste and process flows. The platform expands existing approaches to the Digital Product Passport (DPP) to include waste streams and creates transparency regarding quantities, qualities, and recycling options along the entire value chain – from production and processing to recycling.

The system can be used in breweries, e.g., for the digital recording and optimization of by-products such as spent grain, yeast, or process water. Model-based analysis allows recycling options, e.g., as animal feed, substrate for biogas plants, or raw material for other bio-based products, to be evaluated economically and ecologically as well as integrated into existing cycles.

IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH is a cooperation partner in the project network and supports technical classification, transfer to agricultural value chains, and strategic dissemination in national and international specialist contexts.
