The aim is to increase the competitiveness of the Ukrainian woodworking industry sustainably. To this end, production and export capacities are being analyzed, the strengths and weaknesses of the sector are being assessed, and concrete investment proposals are being developed.

The work is divided into three main areas:

  1. Analysis of production and export potential: The available round timber supply, the development of the sector, market trends, risks and legal framework conditions will be examined. Experts, companies and other stakeholders are involved.
  2. Assessment of competitiveness: The performance of the sector is examined on the basis of internationally recognized criteria, export successes are analysed and targeted feedback is obtained from the industry.
  3. Development of future scenarios and investment proposals: Specific approaches are developed to strengthen competitiveness, expand supply chains, promote innovation and create jobs in rural areas. These results will be discussed in several round-table discussions with those involved.

Three comprehensive reports are planned: an analysis of production and exports, an assessment of competitiveness and an action and investment plan. All results are produced in close coordination with local partners, including summarizing translations into Ukrainian and complying with EU communication standards.

The project is being implemented by unique land use GmbH. IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH supports the analysis of the current and future availability of roundwood in Ukraine, taking into account regional differences and various political scenarios. In addition, IAK advises stakeholders and conducts workshops, interviews and round-table discussions with relevant actors.
