Project concept for the rehabilitation of coffee cultivation and development of a certification system for deforestation-free supply chains in Angola
IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH (IAK) has been commissioned to conduct a study on the rehabilitation of coffee cultivation in Angola. The study aims to lay the foundations for a long-term project (2026-2030, with an option to extend) that supports the sustainable development of coffee value creation in Angola and, at the same time, contributes to deforestation-free, traceable supply chains.
The study covers the technical, institutional, and financial planning of the future program and addresses the ecological, economic, and social aspects of revitalizing the Angolan coffee sector.
Services provided by IAK:
- Development of the technical specifications for the planned long-term project (2026-2030)
- Definition of the contributions of the Angolan partner institutions, in particular the Ministério da Agricultura e Florestas (Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry) and the Instituto Nacional do Café INCA (National Coffee Institute)
- Formulation of the IAK's terms of reference and work program
- Development of a human resources concept, incl. capacity building and training of local specialists
- Development of a training concept for agricultural advisors and coffee processors
- Financial and budget planning for the entire project period (2026-2030)
Also, the study contains proposals for establishing a joint project management unit between the partners involved and for forming a permanent working group on coffee production, in which other relevant stakeholders from the public, private, and scientific sectors will join the ministry and INCA.
The results of the study form the basis for the implementation of a large-scale program for the sustainable rehabilitation of the Angolan coffee sector, the improvement of the competitiveness of local producers, and integration into global markets, taking into account the EUDR.
