Food security

Eradicating hunger is one of the UN's key Sustainable Development Goals for the 2020s. Hunger and malnutrition are mostly rural phenomena on a global scale. Yet, there is enormous potential to increase the productivity of farms and value chains in poorer countries. They can be activated if good agricultural practices, agricultural extension and training, investment promotion, land issues, and agricultural and trade policy frameworks are addressed coherently. We think beyond just agricultural productivity: trade issues and distribution, as well as balanced nutrition and sanitation, play just as important a role in food security.
