Our trees have been planted!

The Harz National Park has suffered greatly in recent years. Hurricanes and drought have left their mark and whole areas of forest have been devastated. This is why IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH decided to make a contribution to the sustainable re-vegetation of the Harz Mountains. The aim is to create a stable, CO2-absorbing mixed forest. The campaign is led by the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Nationalparks Harz e.V. (GFN). It is being implemented by the heiermann4future initiative. It works closely with the state and municipal forests and the Harz National Park to select the best areas for planting.

On Apr 19/20, 2024, around 200 volunteer planting helpers planted seedlings financed by donations at this year's spring planting, this time near the town Elend. A total of 25,000 trees will be planted on around 10 ha – including the trees donated by IAK.

Re-greening the Harz Mountains is an important step towards protecting and revitalizing the valuable natural areas. A total of 100 million new trees need to be planted in the Harz Mountains to restore the ecological balance. We would like to thank heiermann4future and all the volunteers for their efforts in sometimes very uncomfortable weather conditions. As they had not yet sprouted, fortunately all the April seedlings survived despite the sudden frost.
