Sino-German Agribusiness Conference 2021 successfully concluded

The main topics were modernization of animal husbandry and modernization of crop production, supplemented by on-site and online presentations on digitalization in agriculture and examples of modern agriculture from various Chinese provinces. Representatives from numerous companies presented their solutions on modernization and sustainability in agriculture. For example, Dr. Martin Schneider, one of the two managing directors of IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH, presented a scientifically based method for measuring sustainability in farms. This method, which incorporates ecological, economic and social indicators, is offered by IAK together with INL – Privates Institut für Nachhaltige Landbewirtschaftung GmbH.

The Parliamentary State Secretary of the BMEL, Mr. Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, and the Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), Mr. Sui Pengfei, represented the two ministries in their opening speeches to the conference. Panel discussions with questions from the audience provided a platform for further and lively discussions with experts from China and Germany. The conference concluded with a visit to the Jiangsu, Nanjing Baima National Agricultural Demonstration Park, where the latest digital technologies are being used to produce high-quality agricultural products such as blueberries and beef and mutton.

200 people attended the hybrid event (face-to-face and online) in presence. More than 10,000 participants followed it via live stream or zoom.
