Agricultural policy dialogue between the African Union and Germany to strengthen the resilience of food systems in Africa

The project aims to accelerate the transformation of sustainable and resilient agrifood systems in African Union (AU) Member States by strengthening the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). It supports the African Union Commission (AUC) in translating continental priorities into action in selected focus countries while generating knowledge and experience that can be scaled across the continent. 

The APD serves as a strategic platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnership development between the AU, Germany, and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors. It promotes mutually beneficial cooperation, innovation and sustainable agribusiness partnerships that contribute to resilient agrifood systems, regional value chains and youth employment. The central partner is the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment of the African Union Commission (AUC-DARBE). Cooperation also includes AUDA-NEPAD, the RECs, research institutions, the private sector, and civil society. 

The project is implemented by IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH as lead partner in a consortium with the Andreas Hermes Akademie (AHA) and the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN).
