The Smart Agriculture website was created as part of the Sino-German Agricultural Center (DCZ), a joint cooperation project between the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA). Since an originally planned technical information trip of Chinese experts and officials to Germany and France in 2020 could not be realized due to the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea of a "virtual trip" was born. The important topic of smart agriculture should thus be presented to a broad public – by means of video interviews with political decision-makers, scientists, practitioners and the agricultural industry.

A wide range of issues is addressed, showing the state of the art in smart agriculture and giving an outlook on possible future developments in this field. In the interviews, policy makers from different levels of government provide information on frameworks and relevant regulations, companies present products and specific solutions, and farmers share their practical knowledge on digital tools and approaches.

In addition, the website provides presentations, reports, videos and audiovisual publications on smart agriculture.

The website and videos are available in three languages: English, German and Chinese.
