7. DCAW as online format

The two-day event hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) included two thematic sessions:

  • Workshop on Sino-German Cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Revitalization.
  • Workshop on Sino-German solutions for digital agriculture.

Mr. Zhang Lubiao, Director General of the Center for Foreign Economic Cooperation (FECC), chaired the opening session of the event and welcomed the online audience. Mr. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of MARA, delivered an opening speech (pre-recorded), emphasizing the increasing importance of smart farming in China and its potential contribution to green development of the agricultural sector. Another opening speech (pre-recorded) was given by Ms. Julia Klöckner, former Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, in which she referred to the wide range of projects supported by BMEL to promote rural development in Germany. She also praised the ongoing Sino-German cooperation and expressed confidence that the successful cooperation in the field of animal husbandry can continue in the future.

The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from politics, science and agribusiness from both countries, who contributed online or with recorded video messages. Representatives of various companies presented their solutions for the digital modernization of agriculture and their contribution to the revitalization of rural areas. In China, about 4,000 to 5,000 viewers watched the DCAW, which was successfully broadcast online. There were also 80 participants tuned in via Zoom on each of the two days.
