IAK implements BMEL food aid for Ukraine

With the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) established the Coordination Office for Food Aid to Ukraine – German Food Bridge (GFB) and initially commissioned AFC Agriculture and Finance Consultants GmbH (AFC) with its implementation. With the help of the GFB, official Ukrainian requests for food are matched with corresponding offers of donations from the German food industry in order to provide Ukraine with needs-based and targeted support.

Since then, around 500 truckloads of food have already been donated, most of which has already been delivered to the intermediate storage and transhipment points in Poland. There, the trucks are taken over by Ukrainian NGOs and the food is distributed in Ukraine according to need.

With the integration of the successful GFB into the BMEL-funded BKP project German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD), IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH (IAK) has now been the responsible implementer of the GFB since 1 January 2023. In doing so, we work closely with the AFC and Ukrainian NGOs.

The need for food donations in Ukraine remains high. Anyone who would like to donate can find out more here.
