We commemorate Mr Berthold Meier

We remember Mr Berthold Meier, the former Managing Director of IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH (IAK), who held this position from 1984 to 1994. Mr Meier passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 94. His contribution to the history of our company as well as his life's journey deserve our recognition.

Mr Meier led IAK during a significant phase in the company's history. His leadership coincided with the build-up and the time of the political reunification of Germany and thus with a period characterised by great challenges and extensive changes. Under his leadership, our company successfully navigated through this challenging time and established itself as a leading player in agricultural consulting.

Mr Meier took part in the Development Policy Round Table of the GDR from 1990, even before the reunification of Germany. A major result of the Round Table was that the donations of GDR citizens collected in the Soli Fund could now be used for a development policy foundation. From 1994 to 2000, he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the North-South Bridges Foundation.

Mr Meier was also a contemporary witness with a remarkable life story. Conscripted as a child soldier in the last days of the Second World War, he experienced severe hardships and trials. His experiences shaped his personality and made him a person of extraordinary strength and resilience. In a contemporary witness interview published on YouTube, he gave insights into his life and provided a valuable testimony of his experiences. Starting at hour 1:36, he also talks about his time as Managing Director of IAK. His words illustrate his connection to our company.

We will remember Mr Berthold Meier as a personality who deserves our recognition not only during his time as Managing Director, but also because of his impressive life journey.
